Review: Legally Blonde

Rewatched this today, I have nothing else planned for today so here.

Legally Blonde

Summary

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon), president of the Delta Nu sorority, 4.0 GPA in fashion merchandising at UCLA, and expecting to be proposed to by her boyfriend Warner (Matthew Davis). That is until Warner breaks up with her for not being smart enough to be with him once he starts at Harvard Law School. Heartbroken, Elle realizes the only way she can get Warner back is by going to Harvard Law School too. Once she arrives though, she realizes law school is nothing like college and that Warner is now engaged to an old girlfriend, Vivian (Selma Blair). As Elle continues her year, she makes a friend, Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge) and starts to really enjoy going to law school.

One-Sentence Review

Rating: 10/10

Classic film doesn't deserve anything less than a 10.

My Thoughts

This is absolutely a classic, the theme is uplifting and empowering with great comedy and a fun cast. My thing about the film, however, is Elle's character. She is dedicated to whatever she puts her mind to and finds other passions, like studying law. I love how in all the court scenes she is able to use prior knowledge and gut instincts to figure out the case, it makes the film more fun and adds some more comedy. The best part, however, is how Elle never compromises her morals for anyone or anything in the film, it makes her an admirable character.

Favorite Characters

3) David Kidney

Knows Aristotle, socially awkward, can draw, doing his best. Just something about this guy makes me want to put him on my favorite characters list.

2) Stromwell

In school, I was always attached to teachers like this, the scary strict ones who care the most about their students, so it makes sense she's one of my favorites.

1) Elle

The sheer determination this woman has gets her everywhere and I admire her ability to stick to her morals even in a law career.

Best Quotes

5) "You can't have a top loop stitch on low viscosity rayon"

4) "Harvard Law School won't be impressed that you aced history of polka dots"

3) "Happy people just don't shoot their husbands"

2) "Don't stomp your little last season Prada shoes at me honey"

1) "You got into Harvard Law?" ..."What like its hard"

Scream (1996)

I recently rewatched Scream, one of my favorite movies so I figured it would be a great first review! Also, this will definitely contain spoilers after the review section so if you haven't seen it and you don't want spoilers only read the first two sections! Summary       Scream takes place in Woodsboro, California, and is centered around Sydney Prescott.  The town is hit by a string of murders, the targets being the teens of Woodsboro High School surrounding the anniversary of Sydney's mother's death (absolutely a coincidence). Sydney quickly becomes the focus of the investigation and the target of the killer. This film is a fantastic mix of comedy and thriller and an iconic 90s film. Scream is almost 2 hours long and directed by Wes Craven (other notable work includes Nightmare on Elm Street and The Hills Have Eyes) One Sentence Review Rating: 10/10  I absolutely love this film because of the way it blends horror with comedy as a parody of a horror movie...

About Me

Sup! I don't know too much about blogs, so this is going to be a fun journey. A friend of mine had a book vlog a while back and I wrote for that once and it was pretty fun. I'm always told I don't know when to shut up about the film and to start a blog so I can bother people online about it. I love music, basically, all genres. Some of my favorite artists include Taylor Swift, Conan Grey, Queen, Lady Gaga, Fall Out Boy, and Keith Urban. Reading is also a big hobby of mine; Six of Crows is my favorite book, but I also love The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and The Hunger Games. One of my favorite things to do is to sit down and enjoy a nice movie or a couple episodes of a TV show before bed, but I don't really have people to talk about it to in extreme detail, hence the blog. My plan for this vlog is like an informal layout of my thoughts on films that I watch.  I watch everything from comedies to dramas to science fiction to documentaries. However, my favorite genre is...

The Substance

Every year I like to watch all the Oscar-nominated movies for Best Picture. So, in honor of Oscars week, the next 8 will be dedicated to the Best Picture nominees, starting with my favorite. This post does not contain spoilers, but it does describe the film and the overall message as well as use a couple quotes.  The Substance Summary       The Substance  is about an aging actress in the industry, Elisabeth, who gets let go from her job due to her age (discriminatory much). She is devastated, until a doctor recommends her to reach out to a number. That number provides her with a substance that allows her to become a second, physically separate but mentally connected, person, a younger person. The catch, she still has to live in her original body every other week. This leads to the deterioration of her mental health as her second self gets everything she's ever wanted.
